A Different Shade of Black Metal Zine
Priest and Ritual Priestess interview
April 4 2024
ADifferentShadeofBlackMetalZine
1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new ep?
Ritual Priestess: We have been non-stop; which has been so awesome! As a band, right now we are spending a lot of time rehearsing; tightening up the set & choreographing the stage show ready for a really awesome run of shows coming up!
We have released our debut video for ‘Land of the Damned’ which features on the EP – we’re all so grateful and overwhelmed for all of the support & positive feedback we’ve received for it!
We’ve also been smashing our socials, collaborating & launching our new website, wondering through the dense Australian bush land on photoshoots, and spending a lot of time in general in each other’s pockets!

So tell me….where is Miruthan from and when did it all begin?
Well where do we start 100 years ago maybe haha. We have a strong folklore we follow and put out to our followers so we go between reality and that!
We are from The Hunter Valley N.S.W Australia where extreme metal isn’t huge but we have a healthy following.
Miruthan as a band are only 1 year in from starting demos, We mostly have all toured in bands for years and thats why Miruthan have come out swinging, we know what’s gotta be done and what people wanna see.

Miruthan isn’t just a band; it’s a visceral and apocalyptic narrative of survival and malevolence in the form of dark folklore and Blackened Death Metal. The members, survivors from a dystopian future overrun by the undead, weave their harrowing experiences into twisted folklore, creating a universe unparalleled in its depth and darkness.

Miruthan are a band from Australia that plays a melodic mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their self released 2024 ep “Cult of The Dead” which will be released on April 26th.
A very heavy, melodic and symphonic sound starts off the ep while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording.

Described as the pioneering force in the realm of Dark Folklore and Blackened Death Metal, Australian metal outfit Miruthan are certainly not a band for the faint-hearted.
But aside from that, I know little about these cloaked metal warriors, so what better way to get myself acquainted than by having a listen to the band’s new EP Cult Of The Dead, which will infiltrate the masses in all of its glory on April 26.

Miruthan’s Cult Of The Dead EP delves deep into realms of darkness and despair, weaving a tapestry of haunting melodies and bone-crushing riffs that ensnare listeners in a sinister embrace. From the ominous chants that open Survived The Blast to the frenetic onslaught of guitars and drums in At The Barricades, each track immerses the audience in a world of bleak atmospherics and unrelenting brutality.

Metal Roos
Adelaide – Crown and Anchor Hotel
Review by – Brad Hapke
December 30 2023
metal-roos.com.au
On Saturday night Miruthan descended upon Adelaide for an evening of mayhem at the Crown and Anchor Hotel (known to the locals as Cranker). The first thing I noticed upon arriving is the amount of people in attendance. The tiny band room at Cranker was packed. A solid turnout for the band’s first show in South Australia.
The group’s presence had a very strong Sleep Token style ritual vibe and they began to play music that sounded like a black metal score to a blood sacrifice in a dark fantasy scene. Shortly after they began the guy at the back of the room came barging through the crowd and proceeded to claim the first third of the floor where he frantically paced through punters and invaded people’s personal space as he screamed in their faces. Miruthan had arrived.
